  1. Moronic yet coherent English. Must have been ghostwritten by the wife of that crazy dude who ran for POTUS for 2 minutes last week.

    1. If she is so concerned about domestic terrorism, where was she a few months ago when that shooter murdered people at Planned Parenthood in Colorado.

  2. You know, Chas, you perform a valuable service to us all by paddling through the filth swamps of the RW media sphere just to bring us important news of what the terrible people are up to.

I'm getting worried about your health, though. As we saw in Videodrome, frequent exposure to certain types of media can cause uncontrolled growth of new organs in the brain, with reality altering hallucinations, hideous mutation and even death.

Please check on your amygdala daily. We'd hate to lose you.

    1. My health can only get better. Starting September 21st I get my first Social Security payment of $1,007 which will qualify me for a subsidy of almost $547 for health insurance, something I haven't had in about 8 years. I started back on my statin and blood pressure meds (was at 184 over 120).
But most of all I'm convinced Trump will not get 40% of the vote. If he somehow manages to, well, I've lived long enough then!

  3. The solution to these Islamic attacks that would hurl us toward transforming into an intensely frightened, cowering nation? No, it is not more “gun control” that further strips us of the responsibility and means to protect the innocent. The solution begins with acknowledging the threat, for it creates a dark and deadly situation for every American when the leader of the free world leaves Islamic terrorism out of our calculations, when they are among us.

Conveniently ignoring the fact that the would-be Los Angeles attacker [appears to have no ties to Islam] per the LA Times.

FFS, you want to argue against gun control, then do so. But don't pretend you are boldly proclaiming some threat that "the left" wants to pooh-pooh when you are doing your own selective editing of the facts…

  4. btw, I have spent most of today, besides everything else, debating whether to pronounce "Latinx" in my head as "La-tinks" or "Latin-X". Does anyone here know the actual proper way?

          1. What happened to LGBT*? I think I read that the * was a regexp wildcard, but I may have been hallucinating. I haven't seen it in a while.

          2. Technically, it's now LGBTQA (with Q being Queer or Questioning and A being Asexual), but even LGBTQA* think that is too many letters :)

          3. I should google stuff before asking silly questions. The term I was remembering was |trans*|, which was related to the earlier Latin@. Sorry. I'm finding trivial diversions unusually interesting today.

  5. Oh, phew. So glad is brother & bf got out safe. So many did not. Damn. BK must have been so stressed. Poor Kitty.

  6. The event where the mass murder happened was an LGBT Pride Night for Latinx people — since Latino and Latina are gendered and don't cover both genders or the non-binary. folks in (mostly in the US) came up with Latinx, throwing an X at the end to get around the gendering problem in the Spanish language. However, what they didn't do was give any guidance on how that is pronounced — as Lat-inks or as Lat-in-ecks. Probably the latter, but who the fuck knows.

  7. Went and looked and upped. I bailed this morning as you can probably tell. You can always count on me when tragedy strikes to curl up into a ball and/or hide in the blues.

eta: and "hiding in the blues" is now the title of a song.
