  1. My dad played high school and college football and boxed. I only wrestled in junior high, but got my head slammed against the mat hard enough to make me vomit a couple of times. I'll never know if watching my father sleepwalk through his life with occasional sudden bursts of paranoia and anger influenced the manifestly deficient way I cope with frustration, or if it's my own head injuries.

At any rate, the human brain is not built to survive repeated impacts with the back of the skull at the speed of sound. Sportsy things that make it do that are fucking stupid.

    1. Dammit. I didn't play contact sports. How can I explain my outbursts of rage and paranoia to my son? Uh, hypothetically, of course…

  2. if Junior Seau were alive today, he would more than likely not be eligible for compensation: Although he obviously had C.T.E., his symptoms of erratic behavior and depression aren’t covered by the settlement.

    "Oh, for fuck's sake."
