  1. Hm, is 89% eclipse enough to put up with or do I have to take a trip to Kentucky or something? Decisions, decisions.

    1. Come out to Oregon. Summer afternoons in Kentucky ever clear? Rarely.

Once in your life, see a total eclipse. This will be my third. The difference between 95% and total is the difference between waving at someone or screwing them.

      1. Well, I certainly wouldn't mind having an excuse to go back to Oregon, since it was quite nice. Ocean's way too cold but other than that it was quite enjoyable.

        1. The Salukis in Carbondale get the greatest duration. But Oregon is much closer, and way fewer crackers there than you'll find between Carbondale and Cairo (pronounced Karo, like the godawful syrup).

          1. Yeah, the Oregon Star Party will be on during the eclipse. May I recommend the high desert to all?

          2. It is real nice. This will be my third total eclipse. Last one I saw was 2006 in Turkey. Saved my pennies and even took my mom to see it- she used to drive me to the astronomy club meetings when I was a kid.

          3. Also- Wyoming might be better for you. Shorter drive and probably as good weather chances. I drove from NJ to Grand Teton when I was in college, so hey, you can too. Caspar Wyoming is on the centerline.

  2. I can't wait for people to stop posting about Mars being bigger than the moon this week, even at the expense of some Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court stories about the upcoming eclipse.
