  1. Basically all video so far is from the outer fringes of the storm for obvious reasons (intensity, population) but it's still interesting. Never thought I'd be linking to Reddit here but they're doing a decent job at the moment. We won't know the full extent of the damage for a while, of course, but it seems that the worst hit a less populated area than what was feared.

  2. The guy who hasn't updated in 4 hours who went to try to be as close to landfall as possible rode out Haiyan in Tacloban, where they had that insane storm surge 2 years ago. I can't help but wonder if luck finally caught up to him.

  3. New update: Patricia now 75 miles or so inland, winds down to 135 mph. This is also 90 miles west-southwest of Guadalajara, since that was asked about yesterday. It's expected to weaken to a tropical storm late tomorrow morning and to a tropical depression tomorrow evening as it races northeastward across Mexico.

  4. An unconfirmed sustained wind report of 185 mph and a gust to 211 mph was received from a NOAA/NWS Hydrometeorological Automated Data System (HADS) elevated station (295 ft) at Chamela-Cuixmala, Mexico near the time of landfall. This observation should be considered unofficial until it has been quality controlled.

  5. Also a quick notice for those on the US and Canadian West Coast: Models seem to be forcing Olaf back to the west in about 5 days due to building high pressure, meaning that rain from Olaf seems very unlikely there. Sorry for getting your hopes up.
