Bought that album again and listened to it after many years. It contains a lot of beautiful music and, like most Airplane albums, some crap, particularly the "bonus" tracks on the CD.
Back when I was a sprout, I'd run away from home on the coastside south of San Francisco and head to Haight St. during the day, and the Avalon Ballroom at night. I'd help unload the bands for free admission. Jefferson Airplane was always kind to me, so Paul's death is a little personal to me.
If you're a fan you'd probably enjoy the very good documentary about them that was on Netflix. Lots of footage of them performing live, and they show the whole song, and the performances are good ones. Here it is on IMDB:
Back in the day, saw the Aeroplanes in Champaign, IL. The cops tried to bust a guy dressed in a white rabbit furry. Crowd and the band got grumpy, so the cops let the rabbit go. Crowd chanting led to Volunteers being the last encore number – so [ very free and easy ]
The worst part of aging is seeing those you idolized going before you do.
This has been a really bad month for that.
This:

"My morning shines on silver beaches
Your light flashes through the reaches
Of my mind…"
Plus this:

"Martha she keeps her heart in broken clock
And it's waiting
There for me"
I chose "Miracles" because octopus, you know how it is.
Word.
I already loved the Airplane, but |this| made me realize that Paul read the same sci-fi I did.

The first reviewer describes it pretty accurately.
