Official to low-income earners: If you can’t afford Costa Mesa, look somewhere else

  1. Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer, however, said he was "completely against" the idea, which he called "socialized housing."

"What it is, is stealing," he said. "It's taking money from somebody that doesn't belong to you. Government comes in, passes laws to say, 'You pay money because I have power over you; I've got votes up here and you can't develop on your own property unless you give money to somebody.' That's called theft."

Okay, what it is it called when a high-income homeowner gets a bigger tax deduction for the same mortgage interest than a lower-income homeowner because he's in a higher tax bracket?

What is it called when governments build freeways everywhere but no mass transit?

What is it called when "slums" are "cleared" to make way for higher-priced housing?

And here's a bonus Prop-13-specific question, Mayor Douche Bag: What is it called when owners of identical properties pay a different property tax because they bought their properties at different times?

Just asking, Mr Mayor Pro-Tem-Newport-Beach-wannabe. Cuz I'm thinking those VA-guaranteed home loans I got must have been stolen from some righteous Costa Mesa taxpayer.

I hate the suburbs because they make people think this way.
