I whole heartedly approve. I plan on donating most of my instruments to the local high school upon my passing. I'll let my niece and nephew fight over a few select guitars, but all the rest go to the school. Bonus, nobody has to sit through a Barry Manilow concert.

The group has asked however, that no dulcimers be donated as they are useless and at best encourage people who should seek artistic expression in other fields.

Is there somewhere you can get help? A group therapy or something. I remember someone I knew and respected turned out to be a dulcimer player. It took me a while but I came to realize it's not the worst thing to have happened. Did kinda lose touch over the years though.
This looked promising in the Google search, but it turned out to be something else altogether.
