Oh, that's right, I forgot- have to bring the country together and all and forget the fuckups of the last administration. How else can we move forward to newer and better mistakes if we try to learn from the past?
Yeah, he put on the final frosting, but some of the first lame studies were during Bush, then Nancy 'off the table' in '06, [ I think there was another study or two then too ] baked the cake. We were sorta stiffed by hope and change before it became a slogan.
Also too, ….has delayed his planned troop withdrawal in Afghanistan, meaning there will now be 8,400 US forces in the country when he leaves office in January. …
Good to get the depression over failures out now…………gonna need to suck it up in October.
Looking tired, his voice sometimes croaking with emotion, Blair described his decision to join the US attack as “the hardest, most momentous, most agonising decision I took in 10 years as British prime minister”.
He said he felt “deeply and sincerely … the grief and suffering of those who lost ones they loved in Iraq”.
“There will not be a day when I do not relive and rethink what happened,” he added.
Yeah, being buffaloed into a war of choice by arrogant delusional cowboys for reasons falsified from whole cloth, and with no conception of the regional customs and ethnic tensions, a childlike faith in just wars and neoconservative economics and no real plan at all for the horrific aftermath will do it to you.
Blair still can't bring himself to believe the War was a terrible mistake, but it really has taken its toll: he's aged way more than the 14 years since those days…
OTOH, George W Bush, hale hearty and happy on his 70th birthday, took time out of his busy schedule of mountain biking with military veterans of the very same war he so successfully lied the world into to have his spokesperson say:
A spokesman for Bush said:
President Bush is hosting wounded warriors at his ranch today and has not had the chance to read the Chilcott report. Despite the intelligence failures and other mistakes he has acknowledged previously, President Bush continues to believe the whole world is better off without Saddam Hussein in power. He is deeply grateful for the service and sacrifice of American and coalition forces in the war on terror. And there was no stronger ally than the United Kingdom under the leadership of Prime Minister Tony Blair. President Bush believes we must now find the unity and resolve to stay on the offensive and defeat radical extremism wherever it exists.
I am confident on very little, these days. However, one thing I am sure of is that George W. Bush will live happily well into his 90's, sparing not a minute of doubt or shame over the chaos that he and his crony's have precipitated on the world.
One more thing I am sure of: Evil sleeps very well, indeed.
Maybe he should go mountain biking with some injured Iraqis. What a clusterfuck (still going on- wishing my young nephew there the best). You know what? I wish I could go mountain bike riding with Dick Cheney.
Works here too.

Sigh………….
How come we never got such an enquiry here?
We had a couple studies and such. Mistakes were made, we need a new way going forward……….

To his eternal discredit, Hopey decided to just "put all that behind us."
Granted, with a cratering economy his plate was pretty full in January 2009.

An empty mind in a sound body!

It has taken a long time to realize that the facts can't be arranged around the policy.
