    1. See, the British Empire used to be like this, and the Roman Empire for that matter, troops everywhere fighting the rebels/insurgents/First Peoples/aborigines/Jews. And then one day there's no more money for deployments and weapons systems and pensions and widows' benefits, and the whole thing collapses, either when the Visigoths sack Rome or the best and brightest die in the Battle of the Somme.

      1. Wondering if that really will be a story tomorrow. That war is kinda boring to most in the media. May take something else to knock the testimony off.

          1. "Shame on… shame on you. Fool me twice… you can't get fooled again."

It says a lot about today's sad state of affairs that we're looking back fondly on the coherence and competency of the George W. Bush Administration.

  1. The new strategy, which has the backing of top Cabinet officials, would authorize the Pentagon, not the White House, to set troop numbers in Afghanistan and give the military far broader authority to use airstrikes to target Taliban militants. It would also lift Obama-era restrictions that limited the mobility of U.S. military advisers on the battlefield.

Freeing Donald to shift the blame to the military if/when things go wrong. That's just great FFS.
