Just heard that story, and was crafting a headline something like, "Heroic NPR Reporter Ventures Deep into Darkest Silver Spring to Find the Source of the Salmonella Outbreak." Yours demonstrates that brevity is the soul of wit.
The chicken fucking is coming from inside the beltway!
At least it's not Marketplace a collaboration of APM and Minnesota Public Radio, recorded in Los Angeles, bringing you all the economic news gleaned from randomly chosen DC Metro stops.
When I lived in the DC area and read the Post, you could often follow along word-for-word in the paper as the stories were read on NPR.
That said, they've had some great reporters over the years, like Ann Garrels, who was among the few western reporters to stay in Baghdad during the triumphant catastrophe of Dubya's shock-and-awe invasion.
And what the hell else are you going to listen to—the Morning Zoo with Dave, Spitwad and Weedwacker?

I listen to CSPAN's Washington Journal call-in set on FM 90.1 for a bit, just to get my Rage allowance in for the day.
Also for the Dick Jokes.
