  1. Another fallen idol. She seemed like such a beacon of integrity. Sad!

Plus she wasn't even that good at it. Real scammers go for the trifecta: unemployment comp, workmans' comp, and disability.

      1. Nobody wants to come up into the hills.

And let me just add that I believe unemployment, workmans' comp and disability insurance are valuable programs and important parts of the social safety net we need to have in a humane society, and are particularly important for people with physically difficult jobs. The fact that some workers game the system doesn't mean the system is inherently bad; if that were true we would have closed all the banks years ago.

  2. Katrina Pierson, the longtime tea party activist from Garland who’s challenging Dallas Republican Congressman Pete Sessions

I was wondering why I hadn't seen her talking head for a while.

Pierson received some $11,000 in unemployment benefits from the Texas Workforce Commission from January 2012 to November 2013—meaning she was receiving government support during a period in which she consulted for Ted Cruz’s senate campaign and was planning for her own run.

Something something welfare queens something something!
