  1. Beloved mods, if you could revise my hed to reflect that this distinguished statesman probably got more than one Rice Krispy treat for his $229, I'd be forever in your debt. Wouldn't want to cast asparagus at this near-Gohmert-level stupido.

  2. Forty times, Hunter’s campaign made a trip to Albertson’s, Trader Joe’s or another grocery store, spending $6,819 total. The only other local member who spent campaign money at grocery stores was Susan Davis, D-San Diego, who made seven disbursements totaling $675.

The campaign also spent money at Disneyland — $229 at the Star Trader gift shop in Tomorrowland for “food/beverages.” A spokesman for the park told the Union-Tribune the only edible items the store sells are Pez candy and a Star Wars-themed Rice Krispy treat.

Perhaps the most troublesome payments were for utilities — $1,269 for San Diego Gas & Electric and $300 to the Padre Dam Municipal Water District. Hunter runs his campaign out of his Alpine home, and members of Congress are not supposed to pay utility bills for their residence, even if part of it is used for campaign purposes.

        1. The two radio stations I had access to during those years were pretty formulaic–one was pop country, which I would only listen to for news and weather, and the other was pop, still terrible, but slightly less terrible than pop country. They managed to slip in a Ramones song on occasion, so I kind of knew there was something else out there, but just beyond my reach.

          1. That's terrible. I was fortunate to have Chicago's excellent WXR, and several indie record stores within biking distance.

          2. Aside from that white stuff being snow, it would still be pretty darned nice. Now I live down at the base of the mountains and look up at it. If I ever have to shovel snow again, it'll be too soon.
