And ads still load on Kos? That's odd. What browser are you using?
I use Chrome but for the past week or so it doesn't auto-load all my extensions and I have to go in and re-enable adblocker each morning. Maybe that is happening with your computer?
The ads aren't the problem, and they don't break through. It's all the scripts that paralyze my browser. Latest/greatest Firefox on Win10
That sucks.
Honestly, I'm contemplating going "barefoot". All the sites I click on know I'm using adblock and make me jump through hoops in order to access their content. Maybe I should just go back to the goat post, or cat videos.
have you tried Ghostery, which is similar? Only a few sites seem to complain about it, and it serves me well. I'm using a mac with safari, although for you, perhaps ubuntu? Since windows is still the most widely used desktop OS out there, it's the easiest target for bloat. A lot of mobile sites, on my iPhone, I don't even bother going to, because I know there's plenty of suck waiting for me if I use that. YMMV. Happy to help if you want to try my suggestions.
I tried Ghostery too and came to the same conclusion as you.
Have you tried Protect My Choices? I have that as well as adblock, I don't get any ads on Kos, so maybe on Kos they're mostly coming through advertisers that Protect My Choices protects me from.
Never heard of that one, I'll have a look, thanks. Like I said though, I'm not getting ads on Kos, it's a bunch of scripts that have to run through their sequences before returning control of my browser to me. Sometimes the "ESC" key stops it, sometimes not. Living in the sticks as I do also slows down the internets. Even though I have 50Mbps service here, others even farther downstream but in a wealthier community get 100Mbps, to my detriment. Sometimes, my speeds slow to what is reminiscent of my old 28k dialup…

Thanks. Kos grinds my 'puter to a halt, as bad as the wonkette front page.
Adblocker.
I haz it.
ah.
