The next Fire Emblem game will have two versions: One with gay marriage, the other with lesbian marriage. Because equality or something.

  1. OT: I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but apparently I have the pottiest mouth in the East, and, anyway, it looks like the old Wonkette banlist is back — it wasn't present in the old Wonkville — which means if you use the wrong sequences of letters, your comments do that "pending for moderation" then disappear thing. Should we (I) sweetly ask Pixel if we can get it removed, or am I the only one who has a pressing need to be a filthmonster? If no one else cares, won't bother New Dad.

    1. I haven't come across it yet, but if you want to ask about it go ahead. I'm sure I'll trip over something by accident at some point.

        1. Oh, that word's banned here? Yeah, in that case it might need to be removed. It's been a long time since I saw a joke about that on Wonkville and it actually blocks legitimate words, one of which actually might have use in a gun post.

          1. Or math/sciencey stuff! Also too, some of the other stuff on the banned list make it impossible to discuss Game of Thrones. Or p0rn.

          2. yes, on this page and on the main one, I can't talk about areas of math that involve sines, cosines and tangents…and seriously? Fuck.

        2. The past two days have been Nice/Fun Time dominated so I haven't gotten my badmouth on. You mean bloody curse stuff, or words related to a certain famous child and status thereof?
          Or spammy stuff?
I'd rather not have a word filter.

          1. I haven't explored the limits of it (we could try!), but, yeah, the ones they used to have on the main page seem to be blacklisted — the T word, but also a word referring to non-consensual sex, and sex between siblings (I swear, I had a good reason to bring those up). I'm not sure what is on the list, but I think we're a small and select enough group that we could probably be trusted without any list, right?

          2. Well once we actually have mods other than Pixel we can deal with it if anyone new comes around and takes it too far, so that would help if we don't have a list as well.

          3. Yes.
[ I admit I did play the T game some when they first went frenzied over it, b.c. { asshole? } protest response to their being frenzied, but truly their rules so accepted it . Otherwise not interested in the issue ] Do we have mods yet? I'm not as far as I know, maybe wise on Shy's part. If there's the occasional troll or something that wanted to use those words for irrelevant purposes, a mod could work that.

          4. We don't yet, but Pixel was mentioning the possibility a while back so he didn't have to approve everyone's first three posts and the like himself.

          5. I emailed him yesterday and volunteered, but haven't heard back. With the three post rule, it might be good if one of us regulars is a mod, whoever he picks, since I'm sure he's too busy to pay us much mind.

          6. Well, he asked who wanted to be admins yesterday. I assumed we all volunteered. I mean, ideally, we would all be mods.

          7. I figured we needed at least one person for that, just to approve people's first submissions more than anything else. I didn't apply, but only because I have a tendency to get distracted for like a week or two on other things then come back. Honestly, I'd be okay with basically anyone here but that might just be me. I'm not sure anything other than that will be needed in reality.

          8. ALL OF US
            ALL OF US
            ALL OF US
[ yeah, I was assuming having a mod was gonna be a requirement of some sort ]

          9. IYKWIMAITYD

[ also, opening a new comment often already has previous comment already typed in, it's gettin on my noives ]

          10. Just looked at the front page of the NYT's web site to see the white house illuminated in a rainbow. F A R O U T.

          11. I think the falls themselves are in Canada, run by some independent non-profit park thing. TIL they do all kinds of special light things, including for our Independence Day, Canada Day, lots of stuff, kind of like the Empire State Bldg.

          12. The horseshoe falls are on the Canadian side. the "linear" falls are the americian ones. Have you been?

          13. Hah! First time I saw them it was a family vacation- tent camping. We were on The Maid of the Mist when a tornado hit (!!!). Second time was wintertime when I was at RIT. Beautiful in the winter too. Highly recommended. Me and the (quasi) missus have never been there, together.

          14. (Apparently, Niagara does the rainbow lights every June 1st for Pride month, at least the last few years, but they brought it back special today, since, well, they could.)

        1. it ate v-iagra and in cest. I never did figure out the sekrit html to post stuff, so I'm not sure why this went through

        2. Becca tried to ban me repeatedly when she became Editrix 'cause I was being a turd (I really was). I was testing the limits with stupid 'tard' comments. The banhammer didn't work. I was suprised, and then I probably shut up after that.

          1. there's got to be some sort of Bayesian filtering going on. It just ate a couple image posts, probably based upon URL info (nothing obvious0

          2. I used the term "fucking" as an adjective on the main page today and it ate my first post. Posted exact same thing 2 minutes later and it was fine. Fat electrons? Sunspots?

  2. OT as well but I now want to quote to you the weirdest reason I've ever seen for someone not liking this gay marriage ruling.

The decision's reasoning affirms the christian/neoliberal marriage project that refuses to attend to poverty at any level other than the married couple. Also it makes marriage sound gross

    My brain melted.

    1. LOL. Well, I'm pretty sure marriage is either gross or it isn't, no matter what the Supreme Court says. But the first sentence is so confusing — is this person saying that liberals only want to help poor people if they are married? I… no, I don't know what he or she is saying.

      1. Apparently we're all just part of the right-wing Christian conspiracy (he calls right-wing neoliberal) trying to keep poor people down by wanting gay marriage. It was also added that this was a clear attack on #blacklivesmatter by some strange logic. I want to note that I've seen this guy make comments for a couple of years pretty routinely and I'm pretty sure he's actually not a troll.

        1. Ah, yeah, I've seen some people who are passionate about certain civil rights issues being less than gracious today, as though somehow this victory harms the fight for anything else, when it's so the opposite of that.

          1. But it's clearly impossible for humans to think about one thing at once! Oh look, a chicken!

          1. I'm actually amazed that it took 90 comments for someone to post something about the pic.

          2. Well, I like to give my more thoughtful comments before I remind everyone that I still essentially have the brain of a 12 year old.

        1. Oh, fer sure, but I'm pretty sure today's ruling didn't make marriage obligatory. Or did it? Shit, I better read more than the last paragraph. There may be fine print I am unaware of.

          1. I think everyone was too distracted by Scalia's dissent to actually read the real fine print.

          2. I'm caught in between you X-Men and the Baby Boomers, and me and my sweetie are still not married! Huzzah!

  3. It was mostly a carryover from the main page where they had a troll problem for a while (until they started doing that moderate comments thing, and now I don't know how it works with disqus).

  4. I enjoyed that when Kid Glass was little. Although, let me get this straight, the dog can't really talk but the soap and the mailbox can? Brown acid?

  5. I have actually moderated at one place before. I was like 16 and it was known for being spammed by invasions of Brazilians. Maybe I'm cut out for this after all.

  6. Yes. That was the night we all became war buddies. Biff showed grace under pressure then too.Biff for moderator!
