Some folks here might not know- the dept of energy is (mostly) responsible for maintaining the country's stock of nukes. Parts of the DOE have tried branching out in the last couple of decades into non nuke energy. Wish those parts and me some luck in the coming times…
A friend worked on the EIS for DOE's carbon-capturing "clean coal" project. I think the most significant environmental impact would have been ruptured guts from everyone laughing at the very idea.
yep, let's review: coal- dirty to dig up, dirty to burn. When you have to bend over backwards to pound all that CO2 back in the ground, you find out how expensive it really is.
My dad's dad emigrated from Ukraine to NE PA in 1905. In addition to other endeavors, he both owned and worked in a small coal mine. He died of…black lung.
