"American Airlines" is really a Wall Street construct, put together by Doug Smith, who headed a much-hated budget (=shitty) line called America West based in Phoenix. He used that as collateral to borrow a zillion bucks to buy US Airways, and before even figuring out how to merge the seniority lists and fleets of those two entities, borrowed another zillion to buy American, which actually used to be decent.
So screw you, Doug Smith, I hope the board fires your ass.
Silly me, I thought capitalism is what happens when people invest in the means of production to create greater wealth for society as a whole, while perhaps enriching the capitalist as an acceptable social cost—you know, like steel mills'n'shit.

It appears I've missed nothing by not flying anywhere in over 20 years. Aside from the destinations, anyway.
