  1. Signed on to post something, glad CR got to it first.

Update: Winds now up to 185 mph. We're in incredibly rare territory here. This is only the 5th recorded Atlantic hurricane to do so.

  2. So the peak of hurricane season is September 10. It's September 5, we've already had 10 storms, with an 11th looking quite possible in the next few days. This is an incredible pace.

    1. 2005. I really hope so myself. Who knows at this point. We'll get really deep into the alphabet, anyway.

2005 had a (much weaker) Harvey!

  3. Tropical Depression 13 has formed in the SW Gulf of Mexico, because of course it has. Expected to meander down there and become Tropical Storm Katia soon.

      1. Clearly we need to move the weather control satellites into high elliptical orbit. Cell phone cameras are becoming too powerful.

        1. We could use the water vapor resonance at 183 GHz and excite the clouds directly. We'll get natural beam-narrowing from the shorter wavelength, and it's barely detectable on the ground.

I'm glad we have the security of this vault-type room, where there's no chance anyone will ever read it.

        2. If there's any extra space in the cargo bay this would be a perfect opportunity to "test" the new aerosol immunization protocol.

      1. The Hopey essay is excellent, as one would expect it to be. And many of the comments are fawning and/or supportive. But hoo boy the ones that aren't….

      1. Need a catchy slogan to goad him into staying no matter what. Apparently he's been going on about how these things are often over-hyped.

  4. Hey trumpterds: Rush says global warming and these hurricane warnings are just liberal scare tactics. So stay put and don't believe the fake news.
