ETA – Early in the talk, Justice Martin refers to 30s era Associate Justice of the (US) Supreme Court, James Clark McReynolds, saying he was "known for at least two things. He was one of the laziest lawyers ever appointed to the court, and that he was probably the worst human being ever appointed to the court.".
Hope you liked it. This yearly series of lectures by the Australian branch of the Selden Society occasionally provide some glimmer of hope for the survival of something resembling dignified public discourse.
Oh, yes. An extended compilation of opening remarks from conferences such as these would be highly effective as a coercive, enhanced interrogation technique.
