Slightly OT, but Philip Glass' book [Words Without Music] is pretty wonderful if you're interested in modern art, music, yoga, Tibetan Buddhism or what it's like to work in a steel mill.
Bought the book on the basis of that interview. The book led me to buy "Glassworks," his attempt to make big $$$ by doing more accessible music. It's very enjoyable, particularly after you understand what he's trying to do in his music.
Plus you may know more of his music than you think…it's in a lot of commercials and movies.

Cool. I heard an interview with him recently, maybe NPR……….the music is not for me, but he's an amazing guy nonetheless.
