Revered mods, my whole title didn't fit, and the wrong half got truncated. Should read: Please don't comment on this article arguing that comments are OVER.
Comments are rife with “the never-ending stream of derision that women, people of color and other marginalized communities endure; the constant insistence that you or what you write is stupid or that your platform is undeserved.”
So this is why the Wonket does not allow comments?
If anything proved to me that some Worker's Paradise (or Galtian Utopia) was just a fantasy, comments sections
out there —->
confirmed it.
Released from any social biofeedback, enough people will revert to rabid chimpanzees – or some Lord Of The Flies bullshit – to fuck it up for everyone.
We lost that battle when the wingnuts started commenting at the NYT. Granted, their wingnuts tend to use proper grammar and spelling, and are slightly more polite, but they are every bit as tedious and ignorant as the deleted commenters we get…
It's probably those liberal copy editors touching up the grammar and spelling so that liberals will reject the wingnut arguments on their merits, rather than ridiculing their poor orthography and punctuation.

Only a idiot whose never seen a keyboard before would fuck something as simple as that up! Get a brain, moran!
Up your fist!
Ron Paul/2012!
Your comment is bad, and you should feel bad!

Exactly. We hate to be reminded that what we write is stupid and that our platform is undeserved.
