  1. A good first half. Some really good crunching tackles by the US players, and some lovely passing and going through the phases.

Fortunately for you, the Scots aren't kicking their penalties very well, but we'll see how fitness levels keep up in the final 40 minutes.

Oh, and nice to see the scrums being well-refereed, more or less, anyway.

    1. A good game though. You forced the Scots to bring on their first choice players – that counts as a moral victory. :)

Poor old Canada is being pummeled in this competition, I don't know what's wrong with them. :(

  2. Pretty high, but it's not head-to-head – there are more muscle tears, stingers, and so forth. There's also an art to tackling and being tackled. Coincidentally, a few years ago, the Seahawks defense brought in a rugby-based trainer, or something similar, to teach how to wrap up a player and allow close to zero yards after the tackle.

That said, there was a weird passage of play in the Wales England game where the Welsh players were dropping like flies (torn bicep muscles, a nasty concussion – knee to the head – and what looked like an ACL or knee) I thought at the time we were going to run out of subs :(
The Welsh have lost so many key players, before the World Cup and now in it…. but we beat the English so they'll have trouble getting out of the group stage, and that's all that matters in this competition 😉

  3. Oh, rugby players are all nuts. They'll do unspeakable things to each other in the scrum or at the bottom of a ruck, poking each other in the eye and/or in the butt – then after the game all meet up in the bar and share a beer.
