    1. That's very disturbing. How does that quote go? "I understand it was a tragic period in our history but I wish you had used another image yada yada yada." That.

      1. C_R_Eature thoughtfully provided it for me the other day:

That image is very disturbing. I wish you’d have chosen something else. I realize that it’s a shameful part of American history that we should never forget, but it’s too much.

  1. High in his Jews4Jesus Mormon Fortress of Solitude, Jason Chaffetz rubs his hands together gleefully and says, "It's all going according to my plan." And then: "Note to self: must thank Hannity for asking McCarthy the question Gohmert planted."

  2. So this is how adults govern!

It should be interesting to see who the House Freedom Carcass decides to congeal behind. That is unlikely to be anyone most of the rest of the GOP want to be tied to, so not enough in any GOP faction alone.

If Rep. Pelosi can scrape-up enough frustrated GOP votes she could take it but I doubt that there are that many who are retiring — I could see Boehner supporting her at that point.

On the other hand,if they don't let Boehner off the hook and he is stuck as Speaker, he could play hardball and and start passing important legislation with Democratic votes, one right after another, until his caucus rises up and tears him limb from limb (and I don't mean "with votes").

EDIT: I should have made it clear that John Boehner would have welcomed that at that point.

  3. Martha McSally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She's been kinda dull, boilerplate GOP, not frothing lunatic. 1 year in office. Should be good to go.

  4. Considering how few fucks Boehner has left to give about the conservatives right now, this is probably good news.

  5. If you're wondering what kind of speaking we'll be missing without McCarthy, here is an actual quote from him just 11 days ago:

"In the past few years alone, I have visited Poland, Hungria, Estonia, Russia, and Georgia."

Hungria. I believe we would have had some W moments with this man.

    1. A loss to comedians.

      A win for the universe.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.." — Einstein

      1. It is probably good in the long run, though it would have been fun to laugh at this kind of thing.

"We don't have the same, as difficult decisions, but this White House is managing the decline, and putting us in tough decisions for the future."

        1. "I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president."
