It's Flurrying here now – big, square, very dry crystalline snow. There's a solid dusting, about 1/8" maybe. A mere prelude to the Snowpocalypse we have scheduled for Saturday.
| It is. | South of B'more, right next to Annapolis. I drive it all the time and didn't realize it was one of the| Scariest Bridges on Earth | 'till I heard that bit on the radio. There's actually private shuttle services you can call that will drive you over the bridge, if you're too petrified to drive.
It doesn't bother me because I'm a known lunatic and I love looking up and down the bay from the high point.
OMG OMG OMG. I have only been over it once, and that was in a bus. I still found it very frightening.
You went over it… on a bus? That would have scared the beejeesus out of me!
One thing the MTA does is enable counterflow traffic on the westbound span,as it has three lanes. Two lanes of traffic running westbound and one running east with nothing in between is firmly in the category of Things I Will Not Do.
It was long ago, my first trip to Washington, and I came down on the bus from New York. I can't imagine being the only eastbound lane against oncoming traffic on one side and that drop off on the other. *shudders*
You don't drive on MD 404 much, do you?
No way. I may be crazy but I'm not stupid.
You can tell if you have thundersnow by listening to see if you can hear Jim Cantore outside.
I did? How can I remember these things? I'm freaking old!
There must've been enough heat transfer through the wall and glass to keep it melted away from the window, but as soon as I came to my senses I shoveled it out. Then I moved out.
……then shove it up his own ass.
This .gif will actually happen here this weekend.
I'm waiting for the Donald Trump reaction to the gif.
That is the best gif ever. I could watch it for hours. Will the cat crash through the snow this time? Will it THIS time? It's awesome.
It's the cat version of the Kool-Aid Man.
I like how the cat says something different each time it crashes through the snow. (Well, it does in my head, anyway.)
Ta-da!
Spaghetti night!
DYN-O-MITE!
WALNUTS!
HAH Cha Cha!
SMASH!
SNOW-CAT!
CAT-astrophe!
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-YEOW!
LUCYYYYYYY!!!!!!
Here's, JOHNNY!
HAY-O!

If you start running out of supplies, it's a really good weekend to watch "In the Hearth of the Sea."
A Capital idea!
If the Donners could do it, then…

Did you go do the thing?
I did… Haboob are awesome. I'll post a vid later. That hotel is a fun place to go in general.
Crazy kids and their jass music.
Actual picture looking out my kitchen window when I lived 4,000 ft up the hill from where I live now:

Ice crystals tend not to be square. Are you sure you're not seeing volcanic ash or something?

C_R_'s pic isn't showing for me.
Edited, replaced with Bay Bridge video link. The WaPo doesn't like to be an image server, apparently.
Is this a cam on that big scary bridge outside of Baltimore?

That's in the prediction for the height of the storm. There will be storm cells and high winds riding along, so it's a good bet.
I'll just be on the lookout for Cantore running around the yard. That's a dead giveaway.
But the picture is too awesome to nitpick.
You can invite him in for a delicious meal.
Really need to find that recipe book
It's… a bit of this and that. And it would be a sign that his prayers to Cthulu have finally been answered.
