One of the best of those has Ballou interviewing the most boring man imaginable, a guy visiting town for a wholesale florist convention or the like, and in the background you hear people yelling "Fire!", then the sirens of the arriving trucks, someone calling out, "He's gonna jump!" and "Get that net over here!" And all the time Ballou is oblivious, asking the guy how often he comes to town, does he enjoy the convention, etc.
I wish his son Chris inherited his abilities but he just doesn't strike me as funny. I'm sure he's a great writer and I know he worked for Letterman but his skits just seemed lame.

Agreed. Chris is def funny but in an angry way that's not really any different from all the other angry gross-out comics around today.
