The writer doesn't point this out, but the standard GOPer canard about allowing health insurance providers (of which there are about five nation-wide) to sell policies across state lines would effectively deregulate the health insurance market. All the companies would just sell policies out of whatever state's insurance board won the race for the bottom in terms of patient protection, guaranteed issue, pre-existing conditions, etc. That's why all credit card companies are in South Dakota.
Also, there really is not reason to sell health insurance across state lines. There are laws in place that allow people with coverage in one state to get equivalent coverage in other states. So Trump is really just playing to the Drumpfksies' emotions yet again.
That said, get rid of private insurance. Bernie has the right idea (and Hillary should get on board) and create Medicare for all. The public is ready for it, even if the people who don't think they are.
