  1. Long-term vacancy rates [in Japan] have climbed significantly higher than in the United States or Europe, and some eight million dwellings are now unoccupied, according to a government count. Nearly half of them have been forsaken completely — neither for sale nor for rent, they simply sit there, in varying states of disrepair. These ghost homes are the most visible sign of human retreat in a country where the population peaked a half-decade ago and is forecast to fall by a third over the next 50 years.

    1. Less people is NOT A PROBLEM

Edit: seriously- Japan's talking of boosting immigration rates or fertility rates? Learn to back off our population gracefully, folks, and this world will be a better place.

          1. I only wonder about Okinawa b.c. of Chalmers Johnson's Sorrows of [ U.S. ] Empire. Each volume had a fair amount of the literal and figurative fucking of Okinawans. My sense is that Japan itself treats them with less than respect.

          2. I've heard that. Native Okinawans are more of a Pacific Islander kind of people, and have more body hair than Japanese…aw screw it, nobody out-racists the US&A. Legal slavery until 1863, all you wannabees!
