Pretty clear here, with a bit of humidity haze but no clouds. Tycho and its rays stand out to the naked eye and are magnificent in my 12 X 25 binos. Umbra shadow's here now at 2110, taking a bite out of the western limb.
SLOOH's site keeps cutting out on me – must be a huge demand on the server – fortunately I can go outside. Getting seriously dark now, over half the Moon's gone AAAAHHH MUST BE EATEN BY HUGE SERPENT RUN HIDE
SLOOH's Got Live if you want it. 9:00 or so Eastern US.
Sky & Telescope's live streaming at 9 also, for those of us that don't have access to fancy-schmancy optics like Some People.
BTW, if you liked the Featured Image, There's more extremely clever ones here.
And it's cloudy here. Oh well.

Skies were great here all day, clouded over right at sundown. I can't even tell what part of the sky the moon is supposed to be in.
Wow, it's the opposite of here, that's awful. And the forecast for like all of AZ is for clear skies tonight, how odd…
Clear in the west. WATER VAPOR in the east

It's even more amazing that I can see it at all when looking at the Water Vapor.
It's up now. Waxing. Kind looks like it was partying pretty hard before it got here.
It's all red now. Is there any truth to this Apocalypse thing?
That would be nice.
DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update: Unexpected breaks in the clouds. I can see the moon now, and it's happening.

AH HOOOO!!!
Not up yet. Plus there's a haze due to sps not removing the humidity.
It'll probably just skip AZ. and go right to CA
Well, we're a bigger market.
Maybe just wants to avoid loonies taking shots at it with an AR

AAAAHHHHH FUCKING CLOUDS GODDAMMIT FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK
How many people just dialed 911 in a panic just now, do you think?
THE MOON IS GONE! THE WOLF ATE IT! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
It's Moonstraul!
"Mommy, why did the moon lose its cheese? It's now just tomato sauce."
Totality at 1047 Eastern US. It's real dark out there. Excellent time for the Monsters to come out.
I guarantee my mom's going to call me tomorrow and I'll have to argue with her because she thinks a total eclipse stops you from seeing anything.
"No, Mom, that's a total eclipse of the heart."
I hope she knows that if you stare at it for too long you go blind.
It's a known fact.
I walked my dog while eclipse-watching, and half the neighborhood was standing in their driveways, looking at it. Does that count?
Can't see a damned thing but clouds. But I feel closer to all of you now that all our periods are in sync.
Is that what that was. I was starting to get worried.
Thank goodness we all have our moon cups.
Also too, I was going to reply to Shel on this, but her "reply" button is greyed out. Has anyone else had this happen?
Yay!
I feel bad for the people at the Lions game, stuck inside a dome.
Plus, they're watching the Lions.
https://twitter.com/MatthewSantoro/status/6483293… …oh.
Excellent Twitter feed.
It came back. Whew.
I saw it! Slightly obscured by clouds, but still, saw it. Squee!
Yes, yes!

Bob C. playing Smokey. Strange Things
I couldn't see anything through the clouds in St Louis. I did find some images from the UK, if anyone is interested. http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/13788254.YOUR…
I was just fooled with the haze. Looked brighter the second time I looked than the first time.
[ no, I didn't sit there staring at it ]
YAY COOL
