I saw him speak at the Agricultural Training Institute in West Lafayette IN in 1968. I and others resented him because he seemed to have waited until Eugene McCarthy demonstrated LBJ's weakness before jumping into the race himself.
Now, with the benefit of 47 years of hindsight, it seems that RFK was more electable and probably would've made a better president, had not Sirhan Sirhan intervened.
