You've never been to Phoenix or rural AZ, have you? You can thank Tucson, Flagstaff (to a certain degree, thanks to NAU) and Bisbee for making AZ a vaguely purple state. Since Bisbee only has a few thousand residents, Tucson is the lone holdout from red state ignominy. We're basically the Austin of AZ, but without any political power in the state.
