I agree. I thought, like most people, that Blair would do whatever the focus groups said. British involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq was not well received, so he had to be a true believer. I have no idea why.

A lawyer, advised by lawyers, married to a lawyer, is not likely to issue a crowd-pleasing, unambiguous apology for a fender-bender – much less for actions tantamount to war crimes; but he does flinch and twitch in a fairly satisfying way when he's asked.
