It’s not perfect, but some redistricting progress in Ohio

  1. They can still gerrymander if they want districts to only last 4 years but to get anything close to lasting they'll have to actually compromise. While not completely ideal, it's certainly better than the current joke of a system where the majority party can just do whatever it wants without checks.

Hopefully, next up will be congressional districts. That only failed to be put on the ballot due to the court case that hadn't been decided at the time, so I'd expect that to be voted on in 2016 or 2017. Considering the landslide victory for the state districts in an off-year election and new redistricting not happening until 2022, it should end up being changed.

  2. I'm the same. That law was awful to say the least. Luckily, issue 2 passed so it's now illegal to write a private place into law as the only ones allowed to sell a product in the Ohio constitution.
