  1. Ugh…technically, it's in my team's interest to have New England win (though I seriously expect a late-season collapse to prevent the Steelers from making the playoffs), but listening to the ESPN talking heads gush about how great Tom Brady is just makes me gag FFS…

    1. I was watching some of the pregame show and kept asking, "OK, NOW they're done fellating Tom Brady, right? Right?" No, they were not.

    1. The NFL: Where people think refs are both competent enough to screw over their team but still somehow incompetent at the same time.

    1. So my 6 – 5 Cal Bears have a chance. And fuck, I just saw that my Pitt Panthers are 8 – 3–they're a lock!

Also too, one of the commenters has a list of the likely bowls that will take a sub – .500 team:

Bowl Games By Most Ridiculous Sounding Names, Ranked:

      1. Popeyes Bahamas Bowl
      2. Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
      3. Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl
      4. Raycom Media Camellia Bowl
      5. Camping World Independence Bowl
      6. Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl
      7. AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl
      8. AutoNation Cure Bowl
      9. Belk Bowl
      10. Foster Farms Bowl

          1. I'm guessing it does not actually involve The Cure? (Although how amazing would it be if Robert Smith co-sponsored a bowl game?)

          2. For a second I thought it was the Novo Nordisk bowl. "Fighting diabetes one shitty bowl game at a time!"

      1. The high reputation and vaunted integrity of the Belk Bowl will be seriously compromised if one of the competing teams has a below-.500 record.

What is this Belk Bowl, by the way?

  2. Next Monday's game will be Ravens – Browns? Oooh, I'm going to be so torn trying to decide who I want to root against more.

Then again, given their records and prospects this year, maybe I shouldn't bother…

    1. I thought that's what he said. The announcers said something stupid about him saying something "right" so the play was going to go to that side, because that's what a veteran QB would do, ffs.

  3. Oh Christ, they are still going on about Brady.

If by some miracle of God my Steelers do manage to limp into the playoffs, I hope we lose to ANY other team (even the fucking Bengals) just so I don't have to listen to the minutely hosannas to Saint Tom FFS…

        1. *And* Belichick. "Look, you got one pretty mouth and two good hands. Thank your lucky stars we're not getting behind you. This time."

    1. Actual quote from a Patriots fan:

"The refs are conspiring against the patriots, this was the worst call in nfl history"

      help

      1. Even worse than the Seahawks-Packers debacle in the end zone a couple of years ago? I don't think so. Fuckin' replacement refs.

          1. I'm sure the call tonight wasn't even the worst this season, and they go all-time in an NFL that had a replacement ref season a few years back… FFS

    1. Whatever happened to her? Didn't she get busted for selling heroin or joined ISIS or married the guy from Nickelback or something else horrible?

        1. Glad she was able to return to gymnastics after her broken leg, though it sounds like her career is waning at this point. I vaguely remember now hearing her name mentioned as part of the fappening. Adrenal fatigue? Sounds like something Jenny McCarthy would diagnose…

  4. OK, my dogs are giving me the "it's time to take us out for a walk, and you don't give a flying fuck about either of these teams, so come on" look. Here's hoping I don't miss anything by stepping out…

ETA: and hey–my p-ness just grew!

  5. It is definitely worth visiting. You'll want to rent a car if you don't drive directly there (it's a trek from Pittsburgh, and IDK if there is any public transport there) but it is spectacular and you should definitely see it if you have a chance.

If you'll be combining that with a visit to my fair hometown, let me know and I can make a few humble suggestions for what to do there. (Do not miss the Andy Warhol museum, for starters!)

  6. About 20 years ago, I went on a whitewater rafting trip with some work friends right up the road from Fallingwater. Camped there all weekend, could not convince any of them to take the tour, so I got to drive past it and that's it. Still pisses me off.

I did get a tour of Taliesin East from Frank Lloyd's widow back when I was a kid. That was very cool.
