I have a friend who plays electric bass and collects them. He insists that the type of wood the (solid) body is made of has an impact on the sound. Seems to me that all the music happens between the strings and the pickup, so you could make the body out of Jell-O or titanium and it shouldn't make any difference. What's the thinking here?
And speaking of stringed instruments, I just learrned that Norah Jones is Ravi Shankar's daughter. Wow.
At one point I was nearly the bass player in the blues band because we couldn't find one that would just drive the line and not become too creative. Since all I could do was thump out the simple blues I was ideal . Alas, lead man wanted the piano too .
I like it. I have an all composite Martin DXM, which actually doesn't suck for a travel guitar. Pretty much floor sweepings and glue, quite sustainable!
