Actually learning it some online. Sis is returning for another 3 month visit, and she /bil and I have not a whole lot in common. But they do play bridge, so in order to avoid so much time spent watching horrible TV, will ask them to tutor me in the fine points.
Well, I've already threatened to smash the computer generated partner…………so it's going well I guess.

I played Euchre in Ohio (strangely popular there), and Spades and Pinochle in rehab. I really liked playing Pinochle with the 'older folks'. One was 60, one was in his mid-thirties, I was like 24. Weird times.
Now I'm learning Cribbage with the Man I Love!!!
I played euchre at the Agricultural Training Institute in West Lafayette, IN, but had never heard of it growing up in Illinois or going to school in Iowa. Apparently it exists only in Indiana, Ohio and maybe Michigan. Right bower! Left bower! Odd little cultural artifact that might make an interesting bubble on a map, like people who say "sack" instead of "bag" when referring to thing they give you to bring home your groceries in.
We played Euchre in Wisconsin, too (though I would need a refresher on the rules). That, canasta, schasskopf/sheepshead (pretty sure that is confined to WI; my grandmother used to make her rent money playing that and poker). Oh, and cribbage. I honestly never knew anyone growing up who had ever played bridge or even gin, and, as mentioned, my great grandma was a local card sharp.
Merry Christmas, all. Have to spend the evening with the non-virtual family and friends.
Cmdr and I watched Godzirra v. Mothra, Frozen in 3D, and A Christmas Story.. Best Christmas Eve ever in recent times for me. (He's in bed, snoozin' away). Thank Dog for W'Ville and our wonderful crazy ilk. I love you guys!
