It's hard to understand this obsession with guns. The VA AG or state police chief or some such was on the radio the other day and had a perfectly rational explanation: VA law doesn't allow convicted felons or people with big mental health issues to have permits; other states do, so their permits are invalid in VA. How could anyone argue with that?
There is an incredible childishness to so many of these folks. How they have arrived at this hysteria, which seems so odd to the rest of the country, is the topic of various reports and even books. But they continue in this, convinced they are defending the country from "tyranny". It would be laughable if it did not have such consequences.

there really is something broken in their heads- they can't just own a gun like a normal person, they have to fellate them daily. And they absolutely freak out at even the most modest proposals to try to fix anything around the edges of our gun culture
