Thanks for that. The VA is now writing the checks, because my Stage IV is considered due to Agent Orange. Good thing is almost 2 years out and I'm in complete remission. Next chin-to-bum scan this May.
Bad thing is I had to fight, and most vets don't know they can or have limited access to peer-reviewed lit and a good attny.
Not a prob, but guess there are not a lot of Stage IV folks who can honestly say that. My oncologist says once you're Stage IV, you're always that, even if you go another 30, 40 years in complete remission.

The couple I work for got a subsidy through the Texas ACA. They asked what it would take for me to get one and I'd have to make a minimum of $10,800. Anything below that the fed considers a state's Medicaid would pick up but we don't have that here because TEXAS!!! I only make $150 a week (about 58 hours) so my boss said he would sign a document saying I made the minimum but one of my 2 cats had an emergency and now has to have Science Diet c/d to prevent his urinary tract from getting in a dangerous state so what little I might have paid (and there's no way in hell I could have made any co-pays) now goes for that prescription cat food.
About the vet visit. I go to a vet that doesn't have a computer and doesn't make appointments. I usually wait 2-3 hours. When I last took 'Tuffy' in the vet said he had a life-threatening bladder blockage and I should take him immediately to a vet emergency room or someplace they can do surgery. I explained I only had $60 (and had to get that as an advance) and I didn't want him to suffer. In spite of a full waiting room the vet and a tech went back and unblocked his urethrae without sedation (people in the waiting room were exclaiming "God, that poor cat!") and managed to purge his bladder and save his life. They told me he'd need to be on canned food the rest of his life and they had the c/d for $30 a case (every other place charges at least $40 for the same). I told them I'd take whatever I could afford after they totalled up my bill. The office manager told me it just so happened that everything they did AND the case of food came to $60! And then said the vet always told them to worry about making the dogs and cats well first and worry about the money later.
If only human healthcare could work that way. I've taken generic Prilosec for about 7 years daily and heard on the news this week that any long-term use (over several months) could cause kidney damage. I take it because I can't afford a gall bladder operation and the one drug that shrinks the stones, which I once got a 90-day supply of for $42, is now $450 for a 90-day bottle. It's only $130 from Canada but I can't even afford that.
Mine are $330/day. Hopefully, that will come down not that the patent has expired. BTW, $30/day in Canada or Europe.

Good deal. Wish I'd realized sooner, but I got my stents at a good private hospital before I realized I was eligible as a result of RVN service.
