  1. This wintery scene on Lake Superior in Minnesota is getting increasingly rare.

    AGW could very well be playing a role in this, although it is very difficult to connect local weather events to a gradual global process such as anthropogenic climate change. But this is an El Niño year, and that meteorological phenomenon is associated with stormy winter season weather on the US, Mexican and Central American west coasts, snowstorms in the Southern US and up the Atlantic seaboard of North America, and uncharacteristically mild, dry winters in the Great Lakes region of the US and Canada, the Northeastern region of the US and the Laurentian region in Canada. What we are seeing is consistent with this pattern.
