Why are they celebrating the battle that defeated Lee so hard that he never had a chance to invade the North again?

The Battle of Gettysburg was the deadliest battle in the Civil War, fought over three days July 1-3, 1863. Almost 50,000 men were either killed or wounded during the fighting. It was a major victory for the Union and represented a significant turning point in the war when the Confederacy was forced to retreat from the north.
