  1. From the comments:

It is curious how Trump is habitually considered to be an american imperialist, while it is crystal clear from even the most cursory of examinations of his statements that he is almost the exact opposite. He is a picture perfect example of an american isolationist and therefore a mortal enemy of the post-cold war american ruling elite….It is quite curious that the only candidate openly calling for a stop to american interventions and closing of military bases is habitually called "imperialist" and "liable to start a world war" by the people who opened those bases in the first place and take every opportunity to confront and antagonize other world powers.

  2. Today, America is not the power it was even then . . .[Carter Presidency]. These people are idiots. Despite the rise of China, the Asian 'tigers', Putinism, and the jihadis we're still the only super power, the world's leading economy, and the symbol of freedom and innovation. The last two may be lost in the decades to come especially if Herr Trumpf comes to power. If the writer isn't afraid yet he may soon be.

  3. And yet both Nixon and Reagan evolved into peacniks – almost – through detente, with Reagan nearly abolishing America’s nuclear arsenal in 1986. Both were more liberal, or at least less reactionary, in economic and social spheres than many expected.

So what you're telling me is that Trump won't be as bad as he seems? Well, I'm totally on board then!!!
