  1. MSNBC said something about early voting in AZ and something not helping Sanders, but I missed the details because I am trying to deal with an irritating computer issue. Do any of you know the details?

    1. Dunno, but this is a real headline in the major Tucson daily ;Bernie Sanders ate Mexican food after his Tucson rally

Also , there were some bomb threats around town, but we're pretty chill about it.

    1. How did he manage that? Did he push the button for his choice so hard that he stubbed his hand?

(I may or may not have had a similar experience during one hotly contested election…)

          1. There was a receptacle for early ballots which was basically a plastic organizer tub from walmart– I've seen them used here before..(it's super-secure Maricopa County shit! red for repub, blue for dem). It had a sharp-edged crudely cut out slot in it, and kind got his finger caught in there when he tried to stuff the ballot in.. (it was almost full!)

  2. When smokey and I voted this afternoon, the line at the polling place was out the door. Luckily, we had received our early ballots in the mail a few weeks ago. We could have mailed them in but, when you do that, let me ask you, do you get an "I Voted" sticker? No. No, you do not. So we elected (!) to drop off our ballots so we could get a sticker because isn't that the real reason people vote? For the free sticker? Maybe if more people were aware of the free sticker incentive, more people would vote. But, of course, The Man doesn't want us to know.

      1. Me too. I usually do it early, but this time I waited. In fact, I didn't get to the polling place until about 6PM. I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent line.

  3. MSNBC projection, Arizona:

    GOP: Too early to call

    Dems: Too early to call

Thanks for that groundbreaking update, MSNBC!

    1. "But many voters and polling site workers have been calling Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez with questions about why independents can't cast a ballot.

Rodriguez says she's been getting constant calls from independent voters who are confused about why they can't vote.

She says many people are confused because independents can vote in statewide primary elections but not in presidential ones.

Rodriguez said Pima County has already seen a high voter turnout and over 60 percent of mailed early ballots have been returned."

  4. Also, apparently there is a new brouhaha between Canadian Anchor Baby and TehRump:

Canadian Anchor Baby: If you vote for The Donald our first lady will be a [slut.]!

TehRump: STFU, or I'll trash talk [your wife]!

    1. Can you type why it is? I'm listening to a webinar and don't want to play youtube just in case they call on me…

      1. "70% fewer polling precincts [in Maricopa county] in 2016 than in 2012… The county recorder's office believed fewer polling places were needed due to the popularity of mail-in ballots… higher voter turnout…"

That's the gist of it. It should be noted the Maricopa county recorder, Helen Purcell, is a Republican. Just sayin'.

          1. That's wonderful– but really, why should a recorder have a political affiliation? Why should it even be an elected position? I guess there isn't a Supreme Archival Librarian that anyone could trust..

  5. I always get the sense that Big Media, based in NY and DC, see politics west of the 100th meridian as an afterthought. When Chris Hayes recently did that special report on California's water issues, and announced to his audience, as though he'd uncovered big Breaking News, that turns out California has a comprehensive array of drought solutions and we're doing just fine, thanks, I thought: good grief, no one at the network apparently considered pointing out to him how condescending and insular he sounded. One in ten Americans live in California, but he covered us as if he was visiting some far-away country. *eyeroll*

      1. Same here. He does good work but seems out of touch, like what he's reporting on mostly interests him as abstractions.

      2. He's cute, but I like him less and less myself. He's a little too "let's try to understand the Republican side" and not enough "let's call the GOP out on its bullshit" for my taste.

  6. I wonder if Wolf Blitzer always talks like he does on CNN. I mean, does he order brunch that loudly? "I'LL HAVE THE FRUIT SALAD AND, OH, WHAT THE HECK, A MIMOSA! WHAT WILL YOU HAVE, S.E. CUPP?"

  7. MSNBC: the world is watching this election.

I'm sorry, world, but this is not over yet and we will work our asses off this fall to keep the White House in Democratic sane hands!

        1. And that would be one of many reasons why I left Maricopa County without looking back. Sucks for you and my other friends back there, though….

          1. Aggressively applied for jobs in the Golden State online. Finally found one. Good luck to you if you pursue that path!

  8. Near topic: just saw NYPD PIO tweet at Weigel's……….
When NYPD is calling you out for that shit, you know it's bad.
Hey, @tedcruz are our nearly 1k Muslim officers a "threat" too? It's hard to imagine a more incendiary, foolish statement

  9. Utah – Bern!!!
eta: Just guessing that the only D's in Utah are students and faculty at Utah and Utah St. and students broke for Bernie.

  10. Sorry I missed last night. I'm both in the Eastern Time Zone and was running on 4 hours of sleep. No way I was going to be able to make that work.

  11. You know me better than that.

Also, too, they tend to frown upon people bringing beers into polling places, even in Wisconsin! Guns? Sure! Beer? Not so much.
