We had a Dorper ewe that rejected one of her twins. When I went to buy milk replacer to nurse it the lady at the feed store suggested I try to collect some of the mother's urine and rub it into the little lamb as that often makes the ewe accept her baby. Instead of that keen idea the alcoholic farmer's wife (the farmer was also an alkie) bottled fed the lamb and all seemed OK but she insisted on taking it to the weekend farmers markets where they sold pork and eggs. The stress was too much and the lamb died. And then the farmer's wife insisted I bury the lamb but I just dumped it in the ravine at the back of the farm where we put all the dead animals for the coyotes and bobcats to enjoy.
Ever tell about when I was so enamored of a woman that I watched Babe on her recommendation. About 1/4 of the way through, I said to myself, "Blue", I said, "smitten as you are, you must realize that this relationship is not going to work-out."

Too bad it's only an April Fool's story. Might make interesting yarn. And food: Hamb?

Lambs however can exist solely on grass.
