I was interested in Mississippi State's online meteorology program (the degree conferred was in 'geosciences'). The only math required was college algebra and it was intended for broadcast meteorologists. The USDA has some distance courses in the same core forecasting subjects but they require calculus. Meteorology is science, television weather forecasting is entertainment.
I think I told you guys in some post or another over at Rebecca's place about that French TV weatherdude that was a climate change denier. Zero tolerance for that crap at the station, he was immediately fired. If only American media companies had as much backbone…
