"This treaty has many layers. First, it will set aside large areas for reserves, much like what we see in parks in the Midwest. This will be done in the name of preservation. This will mean that places like the seas off the North East will be closed to fishing.
This will produce a significant economic drop and a shift in wealth. Fish which was $2.00 a pound will be $10.00 a pound."
Like to know where this guy's getting fish for $2.00/pound.
And those parks in the Midwest: horrible! Can you even open-carry?
Fisheries Management is not what drives up prices. Over fishing related population collapse due to poor or no fisheries management is what drives up prices. It's practically the textbook example of the "Tragedy of the Commons."
Just FYI.
While tooling around on some of the fishing sites, found that many wondered about the problem people had with eating the freshwater Sheepshead. Those that had tried it agreed that it was no great thing, but still edible maybe a little oily. None mentioned or maybe never knew of the ..uhhhh….. social stigma attached to that fish. I remember catching them as a yung 'un and being told,'you don't want that, only eaten by THOSE racial epithet people' .
I have no experience with them, but I'd eat 'em. Catfish and Carp have the same, uh, social stigma attached but I've had those too.
Sheeps can't be nearly as oily as Bluefish, no way nohow and I know lots of fine upstanding (pale) folks that eat the hell out of those.
Yeah, by the teenage time [ massive appetite ] when able to go fishing with friends, didn't really matter in favor of stuffing oneself . Also, once I learned how to deal with filleting a catfish.
Get Spined once or twice & you get good real fast.

But over-fishing wouldn't impact the price of fish at all!!!

Collectivist. What's mine is mine!
Found one. Not to be confused with the sheepshead that is freshwater drum, which might sell for much less. http://crackerseafood.com/product_info.php?produc…
Yeah, if you want to buy 50 pounds. I'll bet the price point is a bit more, retail.
