  1. Orange trapezoids and turquoise zig-zags will move across the Washington D.C. and Maryland areas tonight. They'll be accompanied by bands of yellow/red smudges, surrounded by wide smears of green. Residents are advised to stay indoors and away from exposed areas until the shapes have passed.

    1. I hate it when the green smears hit. Almost as bad as those zig zag thingys and those trapezoids just freak me out.

Holy cow, there's 3 rotating t-storms overhead now and a rain rate of 8" / hr ! I think there's hail, but it's too loud to tell

          1. Oh My God – It's Kenny!

Check out these incredible 1-hour rain totals from 8-9 pm: 0.99" at DCA and 1.37" at Dulles!

            Ha. Lightweights.

    1. 2.5" in Rockville – is that rain — or hail size?

ETA: That's a beautiful pic of the cherry trees on their Twitter page.

  2. On the plus side the weather lately seems to be good for VHF DXing. Saturday night on Kent Island I was getting a clear signal from the weatherbot in Lewes, DE, at the mouth of That Other Bay.

  3. NOT TODAY

Baseball sized hail (!) in the D.C. area, golf to tennis ball sized hail in SW Baltimore, BWI airport area. This doesn't happen here.

The storm cells are huge, black anvils towering up to 50,000 feet, very visible from where I am. It's hairy.
