      1. idk but I had some for dinner and they were good.

You used them all up? D: I'll have to try to go all-out tonight once we get real results in!

        1. If we were supposed to do Puerto Rican food for their primary, shouldn't we be doing some kind of regional dish for today's? Like:
Pork roll (NJ), steak (MT) and avocado (CA) burritos (NM) with a side dish of dull (The Dakotas).

          1. I did buy a ripe avocado this afternoon, which I intend to eat tonight. Total coincidence, I swear.

  1. When I got home this afternoon, my phone rang, it turned out to be a young guy, a Bernie volunteer. He started to ask me if I'd voted, remind me to vote, etc. but I interjected and told him thanks but that I'd already voted and that I'd voted for Hillary. He said "oh" in the saddest voice, and I felt SO BAD. I shouldn't have added the part about voting for Hillary, I honestly felt bad, I could have left that off and just thanked him for calling and said that I'd already voted. Maybe have added something to encourage him to continue volunteering, that he's doing good by getting involved. #MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

      1. I gave three dollars to Bernie long ago because although I support Hillary I wanted to support Sanders keeping up the healthy debate. So I assume I am on a list with his campaign. Interesting that no one from his campaign has contacted me earlier than the afternoon of election day, unlike the Clinton campaign.

          1. He was a nice young man. I feel bad that I didn't just say that thank you, yes, I voted and leave it there. He's volunteering his time to support something he believes in.

    1. I could have left that off and just thanked him for calling and said that I'd already voted.

IDK how Team Bernie handled their phonebanking, but if one of us had called you our next question would have been "Great! And may I ask, did you happen to vote for Hillary?" so he would have gotten the news sooner or later. Don't feel bad about telling him the truth–with luck, he'll take some time to lick his wounds and then decide to roll with #nevertrump.

    1. This is a little scary – there are tons of Bernie with Cats images out there. And then there are rifs on the Bernie with Cats images.

I need to go walk my dog and clear my head.

also fyi supposedly Trump will speak at 9 p.m. eastern and then Hills shortly after.

      1. Why the heck is this a trend? This makes no sense o_O

And wow, early speaking times. Not even waiting for all the states!

  2. @Nate_Cohn

Clinton at 56.5 in Gloucester with ~2/3 of precincts. It's a below avg county for her. She's on track for a decisive win statewide

  3. OH-08 update

    Warren Davidson (Republican) 76%

    Corey Foister (Democrat) 22%

    James Condit Jr. (Green) 2%

    1. Hillz wins South Dakota (she does better in the South) (but also, ND was a caucus, SD was a primary).

  4. Very nice speech. Also, clearly she comes from a family of time travelers to have her mother born on the perfect day. It's all true. Everything they say is true.

  5. If I'm this excited about the first female nominee I can't imagine how those who have been around so much longer than I have must be feeling.

  6. CNN is claiming that she was just taking Bernie's campaign positions, as if she didn't already have them herself. I really shouldn't watch CNN.

  7. In CA Hills is ahead 63.4 to 35.4 and that seems to be playing out the same percentages on the county level so far.

      1. Yes. I was looking at my precinct level and it's slightly more for Hills than Bernie. I live in a little hippie town. So if that's the most that Bernie could get in a town like mine, then that's pretty telling.

Also, all the Dem voters in my precinct and county both are double the amount of GOP voters – first of all that's a significant shift (it used to be only slightly more democrat) and also it bodes very well for November. (not that it really matters, since CA will go blue in November anyway.)

  8. KCRW just said that Bernie will be talking in about an hour. He's in Santa Monica. KCRW is in Santa Monica.

      1. So many Bernie ones that we should probably use up tonight, although I'm not actually all that into it, too thrilled about Hillary.

        1. Yeah, I'm so happy about Hillary that I'm not in the mood to shitpost about him. I did need to use this one and the cat one though for obvious reasons, but not going out of my way for that. Hillary just won the nomination!

  9. KCRW is saying that in CA Hills is WAY ahead of what had been forcasted. They're looking at the CA SOS data.

    1. If this holds, I think the likely reason will be that a lot of CA voters voted by mail and got their ballot in before AP called it. That thought is what got me out of bed and onto the streets to do everything I could, at least…

  10. Hi everyone!

Just got back from the victory party after spending most of the day canvassing–I'm tired as fuck but hell no, I will not be going to bed anytime soon. I'm glad I have some company!

    1. Whoot! We've been waiting for you to unload some of your Hillary gif stash!

Also, how did it go, getting folks to the polls?

      1. A lot of people had already mailed in their ballots (which, if Hillary is able to hold on, will be a big part of the reason why.) Of the voters we spoke to, lots of love for Hillary, and some of the Bernie people made a point of letting us know that they'll come over to our side in November, so it was good.

  11. So, check me on this for CA Senator………the leading GOP candidate so far , Duf Sundheim, has
    246,841
9.7% of ballots counted so far?
And he doesn't even appear to be batshit crazy.

    1. If you look at the California senate race, there's like 30+ candidates, and the majority are Republicans. That basically says that the republicans couldn't get their shit together to winnow out the poor candidates. So basically the California-level GOP is in as bad of shape as the national level.

Also, it doesn't matter about his vote count, in Calif, the #1 and #2 vote getters go on the November ballot, regardless of party. So unless there's an upset later on tonight, right now it looks like two democrats will face off for that seat.

    2. Maybe some CA peeps can back me up on this, but I thought CA had a weird rule where the top 2 vote getters are on the ballot for Senate in the fall regardless of party, and only the top 2 — and right now, that will be Kamala Harris and Loretta Sanchez.

      1. A friend of mine was doing a CA rundown this afternoon for me and that's basically what he told me as well.

    1. Sad, indeed, though I am still veering between raging and LMFAO off over the idea that Bernie held back from attacking Hillary. More like the other way around, people…

      /FFS

      1. If anyone needs proof that Hillary was holding back on Bernie, look at what she did to Trump in that foreign policy speech. That's the Hillary we'll see for the next 5 months.

  12. KCRW just now interviewed someone from Bernie's Calif campaign and she was saying how Bernie is totally going to win California tonight and then take the fight all the way to the convention, and NAIL IT etc. Literally just now. After the interview the three commentators were politely saying things that could be translated as "WAS THAT LADY CLUELESS OR WAT?"

  13. I thought they were kidding, but reporters on twitter say Sanders isn't at the venue in Santa Monica yet… and his motorcade stopped at In-N-Out en route.

    1. MSNBC says that the campaign is all wound up over the negative press.. Especially the Politico article. Maybe they're drowning their sorrows in a burger!

      1. Just pulled that up to read.

I'm sure making all the East Coast anchors hang out in the studio until well after 2 am will finally endear him to them :)

      2. Just finished. Damn, I thought the idea that he thought he would get to pick Clinton's VP was media blustering, but he really thinks he gets any input, let alone veto power? Holy crap.

        1. Yeah, I knew he had become nastier but I never imagined it was this bad. I couldn't believe what he thought of Sherrod Brown. Apparently anyone who likes Hillary, even with a strong liberal record, is just power-hungry in his mind.

  14. Okay, Sanders got me back into the mood to post shit after that little speech so here's a copypasta I've been saving for this exact occasion.

Before Bernie Sanders, it was Ron Paul. Before Ron Paul, it was Dennis Kucinich. Before Dennis Kucinich, it was Howard Dean. Before Howard Dean, it was Ralph Nader. And so on and so forth back to Eugene McCarthy in 1968. For nearly fifty years, middle-class white college ideologues have latched onto this candidate or that, firmly believing that their political awakening has miraculously coincided with discoveries of Great Truths that escape the Brainwashed Morons that make up the electorate (and which just happen to align perfectly with their own particular socioeconomic interests), and that this Great Man is going to be the one to take the country to the promised land. And it's always the same story. Of course he is going to win. I like him, and I usually get the things I want. And he's popular. I mean, everyone I know likes him, and I know all sorts of people at the university I chose because its student body matches my hometown's income level, ethnicity, region, and politics. And everyone on the websites I visit likes him, and there are millions of people on the websites. (I visit these websites because their user base and content creators mostly match my own identity.) I literally don't know anyone who supports his opponent. (I do not consider the previous statement to be indicative of my own limited viewpoint, but rather consider it damning to his opponent.) And look, I voted for him on a bunch of online polls, and then deleted my cookies and switched IP addresses and voted for him again, and again, and again. And he's totally dominating those polls. See. I knew he was winning. I'll post about how he's winning on some websites. And hey, everyone else on these websites is doing the same thing. I bet he's winning. Of course he's winning. How could anyone not support my candidate? His opponent is basically the same as a member of the other party! Actually their voting record is >90% identical to my candidate's. But I don't really know that much about either candidate. I didn't really know who either were twelve months ago. But I'm super excited now! The media isn't reporting favorably on my candidate. They project he will lose. But they're corrupt. They're bought-and-paid-for. I don't even read them any more. Nobody does. Time to show the world that their lies won't work. Time for the primaries. We lost. Fuck. I literally cannot comprehend how this might have happened. The media said this would happen. The media are a bunch of corrupt liars. I guess the system is just as corrupt as the media is. This is not a good story. This is not a good democracy. Fuck this entire fucking corrupt system. I participated but I didn't get anything what the fuck fuck this noise fucking corrupt bastards and the goddamned shit for brains sheep that vote for them the entire system is broken the parties are identical the democracy is a sham i'm never fucking voting again bunch of bought and paid for hypocrites fuck this fuck you fuck everything see now there are problems in the world YOU FUCKING DESERVE THE PROBLEMS YOU BASTARDS the people need to rise up BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN why even bother I AM NEVER VOTING AGAIN

    1. IDK where you went to school, but the curriculum should become the standard for teaching American history in high schools (junior high schools?) Well done!

      1. It's a copypasta, meaning someone else made it and I can just copy/paste it because it's so amazing. I never learned about these people in school, sadly. This actually means that internet copypastas are better at history than our schools.

    2. Also too, I actually tried to buttonhole someone ranting about how they were a "leftist" and should be able to dictate the D nominee AND platform, asked him who had voted for or donated to in the past who represented his agenda… and he could not come up with a single name, and admitted he had never even registered to vote or voted for anyone, ever, despite being in his mid-20s. LOL.

  15. All right, it's 2:10 AM and I have been up since like… 7 or so? Maybe I should sleep. Just maybe. It was a good night though, I'll be back tomorrow!

  16. As I posted to Wonkette:

    [ Holy fucking shit]!

President Democratic – San Francisco County Results

    98.7% ( 589 of 597 ) precincts partially reporting as of June 7, 2016, 10:55 p.m.

    Hillary Clinton: 55.6%

    Bernie Sanders: 43.9%

That does NOT bode well for Bernie…

  17. I'm definitely going to enjoy it for a couple of days. There's still a ton of work to do, especially here in a swing state, but we just hit a major milestone. Can you believe that there may be 10 year olds in a few years that have only seen a black or female president?

  18. Someone pointed out that the daughter of the first black POTUS is going to be able to cast her first vote for President for a woman. Sweet!
