    1. I think DC Democrats are the only ones on the presidential level tonight. I don't know why we're so bad at elections but we clearly are looking at that mess.

      1. Gee, I wonder which way D.C. will go.

ETA: Oh, duh, it's the dems only and you said it right there above. I am a little snowblind from that ridiculous list.

    1. What's sad is that this article just hits a few of the many problems. There's also the fact that a female politician will have her tone of voice policed constantly (Hillary's the calmest of the politicians left running and they call her shrill) and they'll always be viewed as weak. I think a big reason Hillary's going more hawkish in the general election is trying to shake that perception, not any push toward getting into a bunch of wars.

      1. Yes, Hillary has to present as Hawkish, she has no other choice. And really, I don't think we'd want her any other way. She'd get skewered. She's playing a long game with that position. But really if it ever comes down to making a military decision she is certainly not going to make choices lightly.

Two friends of mine, very close friends, Democrats, that I go to the movies with most Fridays, a few weeks ago, they were saying almost in unison to me how of course they will vote Hillary but that they don't like that she's always shouting. This coming from two very smart, gay men. It wasn't even worth it to try to walk them through what they said.

          1. Yes, that and the fact that every single male politician both dems and repubs in the presidential race, or any race for that matter, are far more shouty, domineering and, at least for the GOP, downright boorish. And this is coming from two guys who have had to overcome a lot of prejudice themselves. It still gobsmacks me that they're oblivious to their bias and say it so openly.

    2. I'll have to get back to this after I've had a few drinks to calm the fury I will undoubtedly feel when reading it.

      1. At some point (when it's not 2am and I'm headed for bed), I'll have to see if I can find an English-language translation of the campaign that female French ministers launched about a month ago. It was basically speaking up against their male counterparts about all of the daily sexism the face in their political careers. Infuriating that this garbage still goes on in 2016.

  1. How would you describe your enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton as the presumptive Democratic nominee—
very enthusiastic, fairly enthusiastic, just somewhat enthusiastic, or not enthusiastic? (Asked only of
Clinton supporters; n=332. MoE: ±5.4 percentage points.)

    43 Very enthusiastic
    22 Fairly enthusiastic
    25 Just enthusiastic
    22 Fairly enthusiastic
    25 Just somewhat enthusiastic
    11 Not enthusiastic
    – Not sure

How would you describe your enthusiasm for Donald Trump as the presumptive Republican nominee—
very enthusiastic, fairly enthusiastic, just somewhat enthusiastic, or not enthusiastic? (Asked only of
Trump supporters; n=333 MoE: ±5.4 percentage points.)

    33 Very enthusiastic
    24 Fairly enthusiastic
    30 Just somewhat enthusiastic
    12 Not enthusiastic

What was that crap about an enthusiasm gap for Hillary?
