Update 3:20 pm: Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) is speaking now. Sen. Murphy took a moment to note that many House members have come to the chamber to demonstrate their support.
Any House Republicans in there? Raise your hands. Anyone? No?
Update 1:40 pm: BFD – Joe Manchin (D-WV) is on the floor talking about why a Senator from a state with a strong gun culture supports these actions.
Wow–good for him.
Update 2:55 pm: Aha!!!! The first Republican speaks to these two reforms. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) says the amendment blocking a terrorist suspect from buying a gun is problematic because it doesn’t allow people to challenge their inclusion on the list. While Toomey was author of the bill that attempted to require universal background checks following the shooting in Newtown, today he is spouting the Republican’s attempt to distract from getting anything done.
I got to listen to this on the way home, because CSPAN broadcasts on 90.1 FM and I have that pre-set for information addiction reasons. Tammy Baldwin was speaking, reading out the names of the Orlando Pulse club victims. Not only their names, but their life stories. Capsule eulogies. She's read them to the Senate chamber, Live on CSPAN video and radio. And they're going into the permanent Senate record. She's given names and stories to those who were just a few more anonymous victims sliding into obscurity, the latest casualties of an amorphous war.
Still going on, as of 1957 hrs Eastern, almost 9 hours. A lot of emotion, anger, outrage, sadness, good information and challenge. To the Senate, House and all of us.
I hope we still keep talking about this and I really hope to hell it's not after the next senseless mass gun crime.
14 hours now. And yes GOP, the no-fly list is a hot mess that often discriminates with no due process. But none of you weaselly fucks seemed to care about that due process until the NRA pulled your strings. You all seemed to be perfectly OK with ruining someone's life by being put on that list in error, as long as it didn't impact gun sales. Truth is- I think the list is long overdue to be overhauled and the process changed to protect due process- but you assholes weren't about to do anything about it until gun sales might be affected. If for no other reason, I want to see the no fly- no buy rule happen just to make you clowns finally get off your asses and fix that list
| And live on CSPAN-2 | For what it's worth.
Awesome!!!! NEEDS MOAR REPUBLICANS
That would be nice.

I count 17 Democratic Senators on that list so far. Hey Sherrod Brown, when's your turn? (I'm assuming it'll come)
There we go!
Kick ass! Let's hope some of this righteous anger can get some results.
Wow–good for him.

I like how we're almost 11 hours into this thing and Murphy looks like he could go on forever.
