  1. turnout collapsed to 56% in the heartland of Glasgow

    Dafuq?

jubilant Nigel Farage faced outrage for saying Brexit had been achieved "without a single bullet being fired" – a week after Labour MP Jo Cox was shot dead.

    OH, FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

  2. Ug. I read an interview with a "regular chap" (i.e. A IDIOT) this morning about how he voted for Brexit, because he was angry about a thing. But now he's sad, because he didn't realize it would pass and he's scared of the consequences. I realize the concept of votes actually counting for something is a shock to many, but for fuck's sake!

    1. I still can't believe they actually did this. Other than the BBC, my go-to site for World info is| The Guardian. | The consensus seems to be that the "Leave" voters were the ones that had been jolly well screwed around by Globalism, Thatcherite austerity and false promises for like 30 years. This vote was nothing more than a giant obscene gesture towards The Elites, whose dire warnings were utterly ignored by the majority of a public that had long ago lost all faith in them.

      Let's recap:
*Cameron forces an unnecessary Brexit vote with the strategy of consolidating his Conservatives and weakening Farange and the UKIP. Never in hell would the British people vote for such an absurd thing, right?
*The Elites and most media drastically underestimate the depths of anger, resentment and fear over the economy and a world that seems to be spiraling out of control. The "Leave" faction radically ramps up the anti-EU, anti-Expert, anti-Bureaucrat and anti-Immigrant propaganda. Add a sizeable helping of Nationalism and we should all have seen where this is headed.
*Brexit passes. The shock waves begin to ripple outwards.

      * Within minutes, the Pound Sterling falls to a level not seen since the crash of 2008.
      * Banks have to frantically deploy reserves just to stabilize the economy and reassure the public.
      * Cameron tenders his resignation.
      * Scotland plans to hold another Grexit vote (Cameron's main point to hold them in Great Britain was EU membership. Now??).
      * Sinn Fein moves to unify Ireland and exit Great Britain.
      * Spain plans to annex Gibraltar.
      * All of Great Britain's international treaties need to be renegotiated.
      * There's some fear that Britain will back out of the International Climate Change agreement, since as of last night there's no mechanism of enforcement that applies to them.
      * English Expat retirees in Europe have just gotten devastated: The Pound Sterling has tanked, reducing their real wealth and they will lose their EU comprehensive health plans. No coincidence they all voted "Remain".
      * The French, Norwegian and German right wing parties have been enormously strengthened by the anti-immigrant tenor of the British debate.
      * Several more EU countries may move to exit the EU in the next few years.
      * No one know what's going to happen to the Euro now.
*Vladimir Putin is laughing his ass off.

That's just the stuff I've run into or thought about in the first few hours post Grexpocalypse. I'm sure it's going to get much, much worse.

          1. Bernie Sanders commented on Twitter about it, and again, he may have a very valid point, but is totally choosing the wrong time to make it.

I'm worried about global cooperation breaking down, but it's also a sign that people are being left out. #BrexitVote

          2. Stop Tweeting now, Bernie. Seriously, stop.

Of course he's right, but now is absolutely not the time to through your hand in with this kind of anarchic populism. The next months are going to be one awful Brexit-related catastrophe after another. The most unpleasant people to be around will be the ones who've just realized exactly what they've voted for and how much more they've been screwed.

I'd be a lot more worried that it could spread here, but for the facts that the next few months will be awful and – hopefully – totally discredit that kind of populism and Trump is such an incredibly inept candidate and all around Awful Person.
            Yeah, I'm still worried, though.

          3. I hope the US is smart enough to reject that kind of shit. We have 4 and a half months to make sure we don't make the same mistakes.

          4. Exactly. It's like his response after the Nevada Caucuses. He may have had a point, but was horribly tone deaf on timing. It's not a helpful comment, even if truthful, and a shrewd leader would grasp that.

But yes, I think you're right about it not spreading here.

There's so many comments and articles everywhere about people who voted for "leave" seriously regretting their vote. But now that buffoon Boris Johnson might become head of the Conservatives and then god help the Brits.

          5. AAGH, Boris Johnson the new Conservative leader? NO. That would be the final horrific postscript to this horrorshow. I knew it would be Bad, but…

My favorite bit in this whole sad affair was Drumpf's bizarre press conference at his Golf course where he praised the hell out of the Brexit vote and building walls and of course bashed immigrants.

He was standing in fucking Scotland! Speaking of Tone Deafness…

          6. Private jet to Scotland for two days: $1,000,000.
Press conference to announce opening of new luxury resort: $50,000
Nazi golf balls casually littering lawn during photo op: Priceless
