  1. France still faced “complicated and difficult, but urgent questions” about how much it was willing to cut taxes to attract financial companies. “I say yes to finance, but to an ethical one that respects fiscal rules” and the environment, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, said

Ethical finance? That would be a nice thing to see…

  2. I'm an expat in France at the moment. It's still an adjustment getting used to the differences, but I do truly love and respect how much the French embrace "liberty, equality, fraternity." The well-being and care of fellow citizens seems much more important (and socially expected) here. Not that it's all rosy, because the RWNJs are here too, and there are plenty who complain about the higher tax rate. But for the most part, the populace fights hard for social programs and unions and rights. Strikes are a way of life.

I do hope that Brexit helps build the French economy, as it's taken a bit of a hit under the Socalist government currently in power (which is not entirely he government's fault, but people are angry and looking to point fingers). The French are big with casting protest votes, and even though the majority find the right-wing Front National repulsive, they've been gaining some ground in the last few years.

          1. We are in a village of about 3k folks, set in a fairly agricultural region. There is a larger city about 15 miles away, but I think it's pretty dark here. Far less light pollution than anywhere I've lived in the US. Still, I never think to stargaze much. I should do it more often.

And honestly, if you were seriously inclined, I would welcome visits from Wonkers. Although I've never met any of you on person, I feel I know you guys as upright and kind folks.

          2. Likewise, if you're interested in visiting the SF Bay area.

I'd love to visit, but it'd have to wait for my finances to get a bit more in order. Perhaps I'd hire Blue to "lift my luggage".
