I'm not really watching, but I have the TV on in the background and they are featuring a panel discussion titled "Where Is Donald Trump Going to Stop Himself?" Sort of doesn't translate directly. Anyway, they are discussing the problems with America's racism issues and whether democracy itself in the US is in crisis. And of course the Trump polemic about relations with Europe is also a topic. It's sort of hard to escape it. Blerg. Time to Netflix and chill.

In Italy I sometimes watch "Porta a Porta," where intellectuals in gorgeous suits talk about the issues. Luckily my Italian is so feeble I only understand a bit. Italians love their clothes. In Milano in August, you'll see businessmen carrying LV messenger bags two-up on scooters, both in $2,000 suits with vests and cufflinks even though it's 95 degrees/95 percent humidity.
Honestly, as snappy as the French dress, I think the Italians might be snappier. At least I think that's true of the men-folk in the big cities. I honestly don't know how they afford it. But as an interested observer of snappily-dressed men, I approve.
